The New Inn, Stoke Abbott, is a delightful 17th century thatched village inn, surrounded by glorious countryside in the heart of the picturesque West Dorset village of Stoke Abbott.
We provide an enjoyable, relaxed dining experience using the freshest local produce in season.
Our Head Chef, George Marsh, combines the best of British cooking with a twist of continental flair; George and his small team not only strive to work closely with local suppliers but also to use the freshest ingredients, many of them from our own garden. We grow a wide range of crops, all of which we use as part of our menu each day.
George crafts the menu to suit the seasons; all the food is prepared and cooked right here in The New Inn kitchens. Our menus are updated regularly with choices to suit all, including fish, meat and vegetarian dishes plus indulgent puddings.
Make the most of your visit and take time to explore Stoke Abbott’s 12th century village church. Outdoorsy types can build up an appetite on one of the breathtaking walks that surround the village – discover the local Roman Fort on Waddon Hill or marvel at the panoramic views from Gerrard’s Hill.
Whether you join us for lunch or a candlelit evening meal in front of the roaring fire, The New Inn’s charming atmosphere and warm welcome is waiting for you. There’s also a huge and pretty garden, perfect for summer afternoons and evenings.
